It'd been a while since Dee left the island ─ he remembers it all (the memes, too), even when Ryo seems to have forgotten, though he's not sure how. He'd tried to forget it, sure, and for a while he'd even passed it off as nothing more than a dream, since he'd had nothing to prove that wrong.

And then, he heard a name that he never expected to hear again: Kain.

After just hearing it, Dee was determined to find him, even though he wasn't so sure it was the same Kain he was thinking of. After all, the guy didn't seem like a New Yorker, back when Dee knew him. But, hey, a chance was a chance, and Dee wasn't about to be stopped by the fact that he wasn't too easy to find. It might be proof that he wasn't crazy in thinking that island he'd been on was real, which would be kind of awesome, far as he was concerned.

As a detective, and a damn good one at that, he looked until he was lead to all the way to a staircase that he was certain lead him to the right place. And, with a hand on the door: ]

Whelp, here goes nothing.

[ For all the time she'd spent under the rule of a wealthy young master, Kyaki didn't have much of a need for money herself. Said young master housed her when she wasn't living in abandoned buildings just to avoid his work, she fed herself (which was relatively cheap, unless you were legal about it), and she stole pretty much everything else she wanted. However, despite not needing a lot of money, she'd a fuckton of it; when she did her job, it paid off well. And Damien, bless his sweet awkward heart, was good about keeping it all nice and available for her, when she actually did want it for something.

She'd recently wanted it more often than not. See, a shady little joint had recently come to her attention - right on the edge of town, which only opened after curfew, just make sure the good kids were nice and scared away.

She'd waltz right on in, pick a table, and gamble with her new friends, human and turned alike. No discrimination or nothing between them. She had to like a ballsy place like that, even if the lesser vamipres eyed her real funny, like they were nervous playing with the young master's right hand girl. Whatever. The place was just begging to be busted by hunters or cops or something any day now. It broke more laws with what was served and done than could fit on one page.

But she grins wide enough to show off her fangs at the next turn of hand, and call of bids. They're not low gambles, but she couldn't care less; it's not the thrill of risking money which excites her. She'll meet any bet that comes her way without looking at her hand. And that - that's what she likes. It gets everyone else real nervous, like they think she can read minds and just because she's pure, and it really lets her fuck with them. ]

You're buffing. [ She practically hisses it, voice low and smooth as can be. ] I can smell it, you know. I have a real clear nose, sir, and it smells like bluffing in here.
